On Thursday, October 6, Stanford’s Cantors Art Center has unveiled their new installation featuring San Francisco based artist Barry McGee (aka “TWIST”). (See my feature on Coffee Table Companion for Beautiful Losers). McGee’s influence in the 90’s art scene, especially in San Francisco, sparked the San Francisco Mission School art movement. His lettering, pattern work, and characters are all signature to his style.

Cantors Art Center states “The first presentation, anchored by a major installation by San Francisco–based artist Barry McGee, expands upon the museum’s terrific holdings of post-World War II Bay Area art, providing a glimpse into more recent artistic practices with ties to the region.”

There is no date of when all the art gets taken down, but I implore you to visit this exhibition and witness a contemporary Bay Area artist  in an excellent establishment.
