Visited the de Young Museum in San Francisco over the weekend. Ed Rusha and the Great American West is the featured exhibit of the season.I first heard of this particular exhibit from the feature in August 2016 issue of art outlet Juxtapox Magazine. The feature and the location of this exhibit made it easy for me to add to my calendar.
Ruscha, 78, departed Oklahoma to move to Los Angeles in the mid-50s and captured the essence of the west coast America. Ruscha is known for prolific gasoline stations, road signs, and his use perspective in his paintings. He is also known for his unique arial photography of stadiums and intricate line work of parking lots.
Ed Ruscha and the Great American West is currently showing at the de Young Museum up until October 9.
